Drishyam 2 (2021)Malayalam – Movie Review

Drishyam 2 (2021) Malayalam(Indian Film)

Directed by: Jeethu Joseph

Produced by: Antony Perumbavoor

Written by: Jeethu Joseph

Starring: Mohanlal. Meena

Most of the films released in Malayalam so far have been destined to be second class behind the first part which gained prosperity and fame.  Most of the second parts of the smash-hit successes that crowded the theatres were often gifted to the die-hard fans of the first part, often with disappointment or sometimes with disgust.  The main reason for this is the inevitable comparison that the audience makes with the first part.  The second part reaches the stage where each viewer has created his imaginary world through the familiar characters in the first part.  It will almost certainly end in disappointment.  The exception to this is the sequel, which came to light seven years ago without much anticipation and shocked audiences after its first screening, which soon reached most of the languages of India.  The search is on for the body of a missing youth named Varun Prabhakar.  The story is governed by a personal investigation conducted by IG Batch Mate Bastin Thomas (Murali Gopi) on behalf of Varun’s’ mother and former IPS officer Geeta Prabhakar (Asha Sarath).  The crucial moment is when the investigating officers find the body of Varun buried inside the Rajakadu police station.  But the way Georgekutty(Mohanlal), who is aware of the crime he has committed, confronts it makes the audience of the second part brighter than the first part.

An ordinary man who dared to save his family from a tragedy.  Another very influential family searching for the whereabouts of their only son who went missing under mysterious circumstances.  In a way, the film is a confrontation between them.  But the narrative can be seen as proof that an intelligent criminal will go to any extents to save himself.  The success of the film is due to the precise mixing of the characters and the story.  From the uniqueness of the Idukki district where the story takes place to the publication of a book for the copyright of one’s own story.  The controversy surrounding the story of the first part of the scene is cleverly incorporated into this case.

IG, the protagonist, went down to win along with the hero who was going in a slow rhythm.  Role creation and presentation helps a lot in adding tension to the story.  Murali Gopi conveys this complex character through effortless body language.  Director Jeethu Joseph’s screenplay is so convincing that even the characters that come and go in a scene are crucial in the story.

    Review

The story of The Midnight Sky begins with the scientist Augustine (George Clooney).  Humans deserve to live on planets where they can start their new life.  One night, Augustine meets Jean (Sophie Rand), and after a few gatherings, the two get married.  After a few months of marriage, Augustine spends all his time searching for the planets, so Jean decides to separate from Augustine, and Jean is upset and leaves him. Thirty years later, in 2049, a catastrophe strikes the entire earth, killing almost every human being on Earth, but saving some Arctic humans.  Two weeks after all this, Augustine does his job in the Arctic, taking everyone to a safe place, but Augustine refuses to leave.  Doctors said Augustine had a severe kidney illness so he had little time to live.  After all the people are gone, Augustine finds out that a team of scientists is checking out the house he found and returning to Earth.  Augustine tries to contact them to stop them from coming to earth because they do not all know what happened on earth.  But the antenna in Augustine’s office is so small that it is difficult to send any message into space.  While working at night, a fire breaks out in Augustine’s kitchen, and while it is in her hand, Augustine sees a baby girl (Kaolin Spring). Augustine is shocked and Iris does not speak. Augustine tries to report Iris to the rescue team, but no one can contact them because they all went too far.  After that, Augustine tries to contact Sullivan (Felicity Jones)’s team returning from space after repeatedly losing his antenna, but each time he does not succeed..

After this, Augustine discovers Lake Hassan, a meteorological centre, from where he can contact Sullivan, but he is far away.  Augustine decides to go to the weather station with Iris and ride her bike to the weather station with her dialysis equipment and some essentials.  Sullivan’s ship, on the other hand, encounters wreckage that allows him to roam in his path and accidentally move the ship.  Augustine and Iris are on their way when a sudden avalanche  strikes.  They should stay in a container.  At night, the container begins to sink into the water flowing through the ice, but Augustine somehow pushes the iris away, but the dialysis device goes into the water with the motorcycle.  The two then walk to the weather station with great difficulty and contact Zuli, but do not speak to them due to any malfunction on their ship.  Sullivan and her husband Advil (David O’Leary) and their flight engineer Maya (Tiffany Boone) set out to repair the ship, and when everything starts to recover, a meteor strikes them.  This is why Maya is deeply wounded, and Maya dies when she returns to the ship.  After a while, Augustine approaches Sullivan again, telling them about the earth, that the earth has been destroyed, and that he is sending them some pictures.  Augustine tells Sullivan and his companions not to return to Earth and their new world begins in that new home, but Sullivan’s teammate Mitchell (Kyle Chandler) disagrees with him because his family is downstairs.  Sully’s ship has two planes, one of which asks Michelle to board the ship.  Wants to go back to earth and bury.  After this, Sanchez and Michelle return to Earth, where Abhi Suli and her husband Advole live.  After this, Sully realizes that he is talking to Augustine, a great scientist, in his last conversation.  That’s why they joined NASA.  After all, Augustine informs Sully that his mother, Jean, had worked with them, and then Augustine realizes that Sully is his daughter and that Iris is ill.  He can not tell that Sully is his daughter, he only tells, he is proud to talk to her.  After this, they lose contact and only Abha Suli and Advil, go to the house where they can start a new life

Enola Holmes (2020) Movie Review

Enola Holmes (2020)
   Movie Review
  Director: Harry Bradbeer
  Story by: Nancy Springer
  Screen Play: Jack Thorne
Starring: Milli Bobby Brown, Sam Claflin, Henry Cavill, Helena Bonham Carter, Adeel Akhtar, Fiona Shaw.

Although Sherlock Holmes and his brother Mycroft Holmes are familiar characters, the star of the film is their sister, Enola.
Sixteen-year-old actress Millie Bobby Brown brilliantly portrays the central character Enola, a 16-year-old who goes in search of her missing mother.

One day, when she wakes up, Enola goes to London in search of her mother, who examines the evidence left by her abandoned mother.  Along the way she also finds a friend who has a lot of problems.  She treats her friend’s problems as her own.  Meanwhile, brothers Sherlock Holmes and Mycroft Holmes arrive in London in search of Enola.  The film deals with the problems that arise and Enola who handles it expertly.

In general, Enola was not taught the behaviours or boarding education that teach girls to be a “perfect wife product”.  She was taught material arts and science subjects and read all the books in the library.  So this character is a girl who follows a modern lifestyle.

She has to search for her mother,  avoid the attention of her siblings and to solve her friend’s problems, these are the main crises that she faces in this journey.  So this journey becomes something for Enola to identify herself with.
The screenplay is based on the book Enola Holmes Mysteries by Nancy Springer.
The director uses the narration technique of Fourth Wall Breaking in the film.  This is how Enola Homes speaks directly to the audience.

The visuals of the film, Millie Bobby Brown’s performance as Enola, and the way Enola speaks to the audience all combine to make “Enola Holmes” a great cinematic experience.

Enola Holmes is a film experience that stands apart from the detective films we have seen.

It Follows(2014): Movie Review

It Follows(2014)
Mystery Thriller.

An American film was written and directed by David Robert Mitchell.

Starring: Maika Monroe, Keir Gilchrist, Daniel Zovatto, Jake Weary, Olivia Luccardi, Lili Sepe.

A curse, that is transmitted through sexual intercourse!
Jaime pours the curse on her after having sex with her boyfriend in a deserted place.  A form begins to follow her.  A vague form that only she could see.  A very dangerous supernatural force that will take her life and leave her.  It was the only way to get rid of her, to have sex with someone else and pass that curse on him!

It Follows is a 2014 horror thriller with a different theme from the usual horror movies.  Most people who watch horror thrillers or those who like atmospheric horror movies will have seen this movie.  The film follows a slightly slower storytelling style that evokes fear in the viewer without any of the horror cliches like Jump Square.  However, the background music and scenes create anxiety in the viewer, disturbing and intimidating the film is one that can be completed without boredom.

If you haven’t seen it, be sure to check it out if you want to enjoy a different horror movie.  You will have a great experience. Of course, there will be an experience that will take you to another world.

BACKTRACK – Movie Review

Backtrack (2015), directed by Michael Petroni.
Peter is played by Hollywood actor Adrian Brody.
Peter Bauer, a psychotherapist, and his wife, Carroll, moved to Sydney after the death of their daughter, Evie. Evie was killed when his truck collided with a bicycle while travelling with his daughter on the street. Peter and Carol moved to a new city to relive their daughter’s memories.
They do not know that ghosts are following them in this city. Meanwhile, Peter’s teacher, Duncan, tells some of his patients to go to Peter’s side for counselling. They were all very strange.
One night a girl named Elizabeth Valentine came looking for Peter, a girl the same age as Evie. In her behaviour, she seems to be afraid of someone. Once when the train ran near the clinic, she was looking outside and trembling with fear. But then she disappeared. Of Peter
During his travels, his patients began to appear in various ghosts at railway stations and trains. Peter also suspected that Elizabeth was a ghost.
Peter and Peter’s father William and Constable Barbara are the mysterious characters in this film.
It is through these three names that the mystery is unravelled. All the conclusions reached up to that point were later refuted and the truth was later proved to Peter. The director describes Peter’s return to the truth with the name ‘Backtrack’.
The spirits that follow Peter in this film are the people who died in a train accident in his youth. These souls must call out to the world the real cause of their death.
The backtrack will have to see to the end to understand the mystery behind the son-father relationship and the secret behind the train crash and who was the target of the souls’ revenge. The film has all the qualities of a ghost film under the director’s brilliant direction.
The backtrack takes the form of a typical ghost film, with sudden shocks in the silence, screaming spirits and scary scenes at night. This is not a climax film that answers all the doubts of the audience. The movie Backtrack ends by leaving a lot of questions in the minds of the audience.
